The star will be seen singing in the new series of the Boston-set show, which will be seen on American screens from October.
A spokeswoman for the show told BBC News Online: "Elton John will be performing a series of songs in the show and is appearing as himself." Rock star Jon Bon Jovi is reported to be in talks to appear in the series also. Sir Elton was said to have been persuaded by Robert Downey Jr, who appeared in the show and stars in the video for Sir Elton's new single, I Want Love. Drugs charges It is not yet known what songs Sir Elton will sing. Downey Jr, who played the love interest of Calista Flockhart's lead character, was written out of the series earlier this year following an arrest on drugs charges. Jon Bon Jovi is reportedly being lined-up to make a number of appearances in the award-winning series although the show's spokeswoman could not confirm this.
Downey Jr had played opposite Flockhart since leaving jail in 2000. He had served one year of a three-year term for drug offences and breaching court rules. But he left the show after being arrested for drug possession in April. Dramas Earlier this year, former Police frontman Sting played himself in one episode. In it, the star was sued by a man whose wife was infatuated with him. The show follows the professional and personal dramas of neurotic lawyer McBeal, played by Flockhart. Flockhart is nominated for Best Comedy Actress in this year's Emmy Awards, which have been postponed until October. | See also: Top TV and Radio stories now: Links to more TV and Radio stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
