| Monday, 20 August, 2001, 14:36 GMT 15:36 UK Jolie 'to play Lara Croft again' ![]() Tomb Raider was a hit despite a critical mauling Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie is set to star in a sequel to the film which sees her as a gun-toting heroine, according to reports. The actress told the Daily Record newspaper that work has already started on Tomb Raider 2.
"They are writing another one - I am going to be Lara Croft again. Critics "If we can make it a hundred times better, if we can do a whole bunch of new things, think of a whole new sequence, get a great script with everything that nobody has ever seen before - then we will do it." The first Tomb Raider film was savaged by film critics but went on to be a huge box-office success in Britain and the US. Jolie said the film sequel could be ready by the summer of 2002.
The star is also to become a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In July the Tomb Raider actress visited remote areas of Cambodia as a guest of the UNHCR. Refugee camps Tomb Raider includes several scenes shot at the renowned temple of Angkor Wat in the country. Jolie is now to visit Pakistan to see refugee camps housing thousands of people who have fled Afghanistan. "I'm going there to learn a bit more about the situation. I've already been to Sierra Leone and Cambodia with the UNHCR," she told the Daily Record. "I'm just learning a lot about refugee situations around the world before I'm made goodwill ambassador."
