Super Furry Animals: Your views

All Around the World is on DVD and audio format
Super Furry Animals are following up their Welsh-language album Mwng with a journey into the latest technology.

Rings Around the World is being released simultaneously on audio and DVD formats, supposedly a first for a band.

"The DVD proves to be as diverse visually as the album is musically with styles ranging from slick travelogues to garish psychedelic cartoons.

"But if some of the visuals enhance the songs they accompany, others only seem to restrict them," says the BBC's Nigel Packer.

But what do you think?

Do the visuals compliment the music? Is this the way forward for music releases? Or should the music be left to speak for itself?

HAVE YOUR SAY

Great album and the visuals are great. The visuals do help enhance the music.
Adrian, Wales

The videos are a bit hit and miss, but fair play to them for getting Tara Fitzgerald and Uma Thurman's brother in the same film. They don't really add anything to the album though. As far as the music goes, it's clearly their best album yet, and it's great that they're pushing the envelope with the simultaneous DVD release.
Joe G, Wales

The first masterpiece of new media. This is a piece of art as much as it is another album, and I think it is going to have a profound effect on the future direction that serious/genuine music publishing is going to take. SFA first band to actually get into space, I think...
Jamie, Wales

This is an intriguingly diverse and exciting album. It is refreshing that Epic has given them the money and the freedom to experiment with the new medium of DVD in the face of todays bland manufactured music. This could be a landmark album, signalling a convergence of visual and audio media and being a yardstick for any other artists who wish to follow. Again the Super Furries have pushed the barriers of mainstream music and I hope they get the recognition they deserve after five outstanding albums.
Neil, UK
