Top five UK films

Animated adventure Shrek slipped to number two, but has taken a massive �9.6m ($13.5m) in two weeks.

The DreamWorks picture, which stars the voices of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, took �3.2m ($4.5m) over the three days.

David Duchovny's alien-hunting flick Evolution is at number three.

Richard Gere's new offering, Dr T and the Women, entered the chart at number 14, although it is showing at only 28 screens around the country.

The Robert Altman-directed film, which also stars Oscar-winner Helen Hunt and Kate Hudson, took just �31,898 ($45,045) in its opening weekend.

Epic war movie Pearl Harbor is at number four in the charts, having taken �11.6m (�16.4m) since its release six weeks ago.

Bridget Jones' Diary still remains strong at number five, bringing in �242,959 ($343,079) over the weekend period, and gross takings of �40.1m ($56.6m) in 11 weeks.

Other films which have stayed in the top 10 include The Mummy Returns at number six, followed by Get Over It and Blow.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin starring Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz has grossed �8.9m ($12.6m) since opening 10 weeks ago and sits at number nine in the film chart.
