Rap star Eminem is due to return to court in Mt Clemens, Michigan, on Thursday in the continuing dispute with his wife over child support.

The wrangling has delayed the singer's divorce proceedings with Kimberly Mathers, which began for the second time in March.

Mrs Mathers wants more than the current yearly $142,480 (�100,800) awarded by court for their daughter, Hailie.

The couple agreed to share custody of five-year-old Hailie after divorce proceedings began.

'Inadequate'

The court recommendation also called for the 28-year-old rapper to pay $156 ($110) a week for health insurance and 90% of child care costs.

But Mrs Mathers' attorney Robert Feldstein described the amount as "inadequate and inequitable".

The couple have already agreed that Eminem will keep their $450,000 (�318,000) home in Clinton Township, Michigan, while his wife will get $475,000 to buy her own house.

Court papers have put Eminem's earnings at $2.7m (�1.9m) per year.

Suicide attempt

The couple married in June 1999. The first divorce suit was filed by Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers III, in August 2000 after a run-in with police and a suicide attempt by Kim.

The couple then tried to make amends, but later decided the marriage was not "going to work".

Kim has previously sued her husband for defamation following the release of the song Kim, in which he detailed the fictional killing of his wife.

The pair reached a settlement for her $10m (�6.8m) legal action.
