Pamela Anderson has settled a lawsuit over a home video sex tape she made with a rock star in the 1980s which had been offered for sale.

The Internet Entertainment Group (IEG), which distributes pornographic films, has agreed to pay the star and Bret Michaels, lead singer of Poison, a seven-figure sum to destroy all copies it has of the video.

The company previously settled out of court with Anderson over a similar video it distributed, which showed the actress and her ex-husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, having sex.

The video became a best seller and illegal copies continue to be available on the Internet.

Anderson's solicitor, David Weeks, said copies of the tape involving Michaels were not so available because the pair secured a court order blocking the distribution.

Three years ago Anderson and Daniels filed $90m (�63.5m) lawsuits against IEG, claiming the sale of the video violated their privacy.

Seth Warshavsky, president of IEG, issued an apology for previously claiming Michaels had given the company the video.

It remains unclear how the company acquired the tape.

He said: "Michaels and Anderson have consistently opposed and fought the distribution of this tape.

"We will be more vigilant in the future to avoid such disputes."

Pamela Anderson divorced her husband, Tommy Lee, in 1998 after a tumultuous three-year marriage.

They had married, after a four-day courtship, on a beach in Mexico.

Since she quit Baywatch - the show that propelled her to world-wide fame - she has struggled to revive her career, starring in the TV series, VIP.
