Stern, who is famous for making outrageous comments on his breakfast radio show, said he has been invited to appear on a celebrity edition of the show. "I have much interest in going on Weakest Link," he told listeners to New York radio station K-Rock. "Let her insult me just one frigging time and I'm just going to sit there with this Globe article Weakest Link Host's Dark Secrets'," he said. "She's the weakest link."
A spokesperson for the show was not available for comment. Robinson's acidic comments to contestants have helped her shoot to success with the show in both the US and the UK, with top ratings in both countries. Stern is New York's most popular breakfast presenter and is best-known in Britain for starring in the film Private Parts, about his own life. The 1997 story saw him giving a listener an on-air orgasm and joking about his wife's miscarriage - but being a much nicer guy away from the microphone.
In 1994, he was to stand for governor of New York governor, and campaigned to bring back the death penalty with the slogan Volt for Every Vote. Before he dropped out, he was registering 18% in opinion polls. He made his name on NBC - the same network that broadcasts The Weakest Link - but they fired him in 1985 after getting fed up of his on-air bad language and controversial subject matter. And host of the American Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Regis Philbin, broke his silence on Robinson on Wednesday. He held up a newspaper article reporting her show's ratings fall and said "Goodbye" - but added: "She's all right. She's just doing her job." |
