Michael Hutchence was singer with Australian rock band INXS

Sir Bob was married to Yates for 14 years and is father of their three children, Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches, and Pixie.

He said he had tried to be open with five-year-old Tiger Lily about her parents' deaths.

INXS front man Hutchence was found hanged in a hotel room in Sydney, Australia in 1997.

Yates was found dead from a heroin overdose at her London home in September last year.

Bob Geldof now has custody over Tiger Lily

Geldof, one-time lead singer of the Boomtown Rats and organiser of Live Aid, said the four girls were horrified when one of his old songs came on the radio.

"The next song coincidentally was Michael's," he said. "Tiger was listening intently. At the end she said, `My real dad's a better singer than you, Dad.'"
