| Tuesday, 17 April, 2001, 09:50 GMT 10:50 UK Birthday salute for Dudley Moore ![]() Moore celebrates with [L-R] Bo Derek, Cleo Lane Barbara Walters and Lauren Bacall Dudley Moore has hosted a gala birthday concert to raise money for research into the incurable brain disorder he is suffering from. The star, who celebrated his 66th birthday on 16 April, presented Music for All Seasons at Carnegie Hall in New York. Billed as an evening of music, comedy and film, all proceeds from the event went to the Dudley Moore Research Fund for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. The disease affects balance and sight as well as some mental functions.
He said: "It's a very low key affair at a little place... Carnegie Hall. "You can only imagine how my supposed friends are going to try to embarrass me with clips from the many movies I've made - fortunately there are a couple of duds by ol' Dud that they won't be able to find, even at a discount video store." The birthday bash saw a host of stars turn out, including Chevy Chase, Brooke Shields and Bo Derek.
Moore has had a varied and colourful career from acting in such films as 10 and Arthur to his reputation as an outstanding pianist.
