The band - Myleene Klass, Danny Foster, Suzanne Shaw, Kym Marsh and Noel Sullivan - are now taking a rest following their hectic promotion schedule.

A spokesman said: "The band are ecstatic, they found out earlier today.

"They are all going back home this week and will be taking a couple of weeks off. They've all got their own plans."

Shaggy's former number one hit It Wasn't Me continues to sell well and has stayed at number two in the singles chart.

The highest new entry was Crazy Town with Butterfly at number three.

Britney Spears' new release had been considered a contender for the number one spot, but eventually it only scraped in at 12.

The biggest first week album sales in the UK were for Oasis's Be Here Now in 1997 when it sold 663,000 copies, while last year the Beatles greatest hits collection, called 1, sold 319,000 in a week.
