Robinson, who caused upset with her comments about the Welsh on BBC Two's Room 101, took the prize at the Television and Radio Industries Club (Tric) Awards in London.

As organisers announced her arrival at the ceremony, in London's Grosvenor House Hotel, she was jeered by many of the guests.

Robinson, however, remained unfazed by the bad reception, calling it "all part of the Weakest Link pantomime".

She also refused to retract her controversial anti-Welsh remarks which included calling them "irritating".

"It was all said in jest, but I've absolutely no intention of withdrawing my comments," she said.

But actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, accepting a special award for Coronation Street's outstanding contribution to broadcasting, was not about to let Robinson off so easily.

"Thanks to all our viewers especially the Welsh ones," she said.
