Becker, who has just divorced his wife Barbara after weeks of legal battles, will play himself in the black comedy, according to the magazine Focus. Super model Claudia Schiffer and Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher will join Becker in the movie, which begins shooting in April.
Faust and Mephisto is to be an updated version of German poet Goethe's tragedy Faust, itself based on a folk tale, about a man who sells his soul to the devil. The story has been filmed many times, including in 1897 as Faust and Marguerite by George Melies - one of the first films ever made. In this version Faust is a hapless taxi driver who sells his soul to Mephisto, who in return grants him a life amongst stars like Becker, Schiffer and Schumacher. Matsutani is a German director who mainly makes films for television. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
