| Saturday, 10 February, 2001, 22:10 GMT Jerry's West End curtain call ![]() Jerry Hall: Popular with theatre-goers Model Jerry Hall has taken her final curtain call as Mrs Robinson in the West End production of The Graduate. Hall, 44, took over the role from Hollywood actress Kathleen Turner, who caused a sensation by appearing nude in the role of the middle-aged seductress.
The play has smashed box office records, taking 6m at the Gielgud Theatre in London. Hall failed to make much of an impression on critics when she took on the part of the middle-aged temptress, with many reviewers critical of her acting abilities. Popular choice Despite lukewarm reviews, she proved popular with audiences and had her run extended.
Her character seduces the son of a family friend, who is half her age, and they embark on an affair. The nude scene in the play is much more risque than the film version, in which Dustin Hoffman watches as Bancroft saucily removes her stockings, but she keeps the rest of her clothes on. In the play, Mrs Robinson drops her towel to bare all for a few seconds. |
