Frontman Bryan Ferry will reunite with guitarist Phil Manzanera and saxophonist Andy Mackay to play a number of dates, although details of the tour have yet to be announced. Brian Eno, now a successful producer for groups such as U2, will not rejoin his colleagues. He left the band in 1973 to pursue a solo career. The band last toured in 1983 after the release of the album Avalon, but there are no plans for a new album to be recorded. Solo album A spokeswoman for Brian Ferry said: "There is a tour planned for the summer for Roxy Music - that is Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay but not Brian Eno. "We don't know the dates yet, but I know that they only came to an agreement a couple of days ago. The dates will be released by the promoters at a later date." She added: "Bryan Ferry himself is working on a new solo album but as far as I'm aware there are no plans for a Roxy Music album." The group formed in 1971 and had their first top 10 hit, Virginia Plain, a year later. They also enjoyed chart success with singles Street Life and Love is the Drug. They only ever had one number one single, a cover of John Lennon's song Jealous Guy, recorded in the wake of the ex-Beatle's death. Bryan Ferry was caught up in a mid-air drama just after Christmas when a man burst into the cockpit of a flight he was on from London to Nairobi, and attempted to seize the controls. Passengers and crew restrained the man, and Ferry, who was travelling to Zanzibar with his family, said afterwards: "Another four seconds and we would have died." | See also: Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
