| Monday, 18 December, 2000, 10:19 GMT Zoe: I'm a baby bore ![]() Zoe and Norman: Nappy-changing proving messy Radio and TV star Zoe Ball has said she is "so happy" at the birth of her son Woody. Ball, 30, who gave birth after an elective Caesarean on Friday, told her friend DJ Sara Cox on the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show she had been "terrified" during the operation and was still sore. And she said that she and her husband Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, were "covered from head to toe" as they tried to change their new baby's first nappy together. But this has not detracted from their delight at their son.
She added that although 8lb 5oz Woody also bore a passing resemblance to EastEnders' Phil Mitchell, he did not look like either her or Norman. "He doesn't really look like either of us but he does have Norman's hairline," she said. She added he looked like "a cross between Winston Churchill and a sumo wrestler". The former Radio 1 DJ, whose early morning stints mean she is used to lack of sleep, said: "I sat there yesterday thinking this is a bit too good to be true and now I have been up all night with him."
She said that after Friday's operation she was "starving", which explained why her husband was photographed carrying a loaf of bread into the hospital on Saturday. Ball's father Johnny, best known for presenting lively BBC children's maths programmes, said after the birth he was unable to shed any light on why the child was being named Woody. He said Zoe could not be dissuaded from the name, adding: "It could be from Toy Story. Exclusive hospital "They've never really answered the question clearly. I really don't know what the answer is. There are more normal names but Woody he has always been." Zoe married chart-topping musician and club DJ Cook in August last year at Babington Hall, Somerset, surrounded by scores of celebrity guests. In May the couple revealed that they were expecting a baby and three months ago a scan showed the child was a boy. Zoe joins a long list of celebrities who have given birth at The Portland Hospital, including Posh Spice, Mel B and the Duchess of York. |
