| Saturday, 16 December, 2000, 17:26 GMT Baby boy for Zoe ![]() Norman and Zoe: Plan to call child Woody Radio and TV star Zoe Ball has given birth to a baby boy who she and her husband have named Woody. The former Radio One DJ, who is married to Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, was due to give birth on Christmas Eve. But she arrived at London's exclusive Portland Hospital with her husband on Friday in a taxi.
"Everyone is well and very excited and happy," she said. "Norman is over the moon and so are the rest of the family." Zoe's father, former children's TV presenter, Johnny Ball told reporters the baby was fit and well and had the distinctive Ball family features. Leaving the hospital with Zoe's brother Nick, 24, he said: "They are both absolutely tremendous. He is as fit as a fiddle. It's thrilling. Tears and champagne "Zoe said he's got our ears and our noses as well, poor soul. "There were a few tears and a bottle of champagne." He said his daughter was likely to stay in hospital for five days. However, he was unable to shed any light on why the child was being named Woody.
He added: "It could be from Toy Story. They've never really answered the question clearly. I really don't know what the answer is. There are more normal names but Woody he has always been." Zoe, 30, married chart-topping musician and club DJ Cook in August last year at Babington Hall, Somerset, surrounded by scores of celebrity guests. In May the couple revealed that they were expecting a baby and three months ago a scan showed the child was a boy. Zoe joins a long list of celebrities who have given birth at The Portland Hospital, including Posh Spice, Mel B and the Duchess of York. |
