ECB under pressure to calm markets

The chief of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, said at a meeting in Lisbon that a default in Greece was out of the question.

The ECB was under pressure to calm market fears about a possible default in Greece and has decided to keep interest rates on hold at 1%.
