Land Rover has announced 275 new jobs at its manufacturing plant in Solihull. The West Midlands-based company said the extra staff were required due to an increase in demand following improved sales. The plant already employs some 5,000 people, and the new positions will be filled immediately to boost build rate. Land Rover sales have improved for seven consecutive months, with UK sales in March recording the highest figures in its 62-year history. In March 2010, Land Rover sales in the UK were up 67% on the same month last year. Phil Popham, Land Rover's managing director, said: "These positions are excellent news for the manufacturing industry in the Midlands."
