Easyjet founder says EU should pay ash compensation

Sir Stelios Haji-Iouannou is the founder of airline Easyjet.

Speaking to the BBC's Sharanjit Leyl, he said that EU governments should consider compensating the airline industry for the payouts they have been required to make to passengers tied up in the volcano disruption.

But he said that such a move would run the risk of turning into a "free-for-all" which would prop up loss-making airlines.
