Portugal to vote on budget plans

Trade unions in Portugal are threatening further strikes if the government's budget passes a vote in parliament on Friday.

The Socialist government says the proposals will help kick-start the process of cutting the country's deficit, but the prospect of more spending cuts is not popular with the public.
