The WTO is considering other disputes between China and the US |
China has agreed to end subsidies that have been behind a dispute with the US at the World Trade Organization. China is ending subsidies that are part of its "Famous Export Brand" and "China World Top Brand" programmes, said the Office of the US Trade Representative. Businesses in those programmes had been guaranteed government preferences, including what Washington said was financial support tied to exports. The US and China are involved in a series of trade disputes. The US has imposed tariffs on Chinese tyre imports, and has also complained about restrictions on the import of US film and music products to China, for example. China said earlier this year that it did not think its trade disputes with the US would hurt ties between the two countries, playing down the threat of a trade war.
