Chancellor says recession 'worse than thought'

Chancellor Alistair Darling has said the UK recession was worse than he predicted but will start to grow again at the start of 2010.

Setting out his pre-Budget report, he told MPs the economy would shrink by 4.75% in 2009 compared with his Budget estimate in April of 3.5%.
