AOL splits from Time Warner and lists on stock exchange

It was dubbed the "deal of the century" - a $US160 billion mega-merger uniting Time Warner and America Online (AOL) - bringing old and new media under one roof.

But a decade on, the company has split after the merger failed to live up to the hype.

AOL will be listing on the stock exchange as an independent company again on Thursday
