General Motors has decided not to sell off its European division, which includes the Vauxhall plants in Ellesmere Port and Luton.

The American car maker had been due to sign a deal with the Canadian firm, Magna, but pulled out because it said its financial situation had improved.

Workers at Ellesmere Port said they were pleased with the news, although uncertainty remained over the plant's future.
