Postal workers have begun two days of strike action, after the collapse of talks in a long-running dispute about pay, jobs and modernisation.
Up to 120,000 staff are expected to take part in the action.
Business Secretary Lord Mandelson has urged Royal Mail management and union leaders to reach an agreement.
