Martha Lane Fox - the woman appointed by the government to get the poor and disadvantaged online - says despite the cost of getting broadband and buying a computer there are still huge benefits of using the internet.
The entrepreneur, who launched lastminute.com in the late 90s with business partner Brent Hoberman, believes that once people have mastered using a computer they will want to get online.
Her aim is to get as many of the 17 million currently without access to the net online by the time of the Olympics in 2012.
