Bjorn Teksnes is struggling to sell his listed Tudor mansion near Market Drayton in Shropshire and needs the housing market to pick up.
In 2008 the value of the mansion had dropped £350,000 from the original asking price, taking it down to £1.4 million. In the previous year Bjorn had borrowed £2 million to develop four barns in the grounds of the mansion.
However with no income he is reluctantly letting out the mansion for wedding parties. He talked to the BBC's Andrew Verity about his concerns for the future.
Propertywatch a new series on property prices and the downturn, will be broadcast from 11-14 May at 2000 BST on BBC Two.
