Sheffield's reputation was built on its steel manufacturing, but the industry has faced a tough time in recent years.

The recession has added to the pain caused by international competition, with hundreds of jobs being cut at Rotherham's Corus.

Outokumpo's Martin Pinder told Chris Buckler his company's first quarter revenues were down by one billion euros compared to last year, and orders for the near future were scarce.
