Japan has added to the global economic crisis after Sony's profits dropped a massive 90% and Toshiba announced 4,500 job cuts ahead of expected heavy losses.
Meanwhile in Germany, unemployment rose sharply in December, and French workers are striking in their thousands over economy fears.
