Government backs sell-off of mail

The government has said it accepts a report's recommendation that the Royal Mail should be part-privatised.

Business Secretary, Lord Mandelson, has backed the controversial proposals and said a Dutch firm was interested in having a minority stake.

But the union representing postal workers has warned that up to fifty thousand staff could loose their jobs.
