Gloomy times for the UK retailers

Currys and PC World are the latest High Street names to be hit by the economic gloom. The group, which owns them both, reported a half-year loss of almost �30m.

Meanwhile today administrators have begun looking for buyers for Woolworths and MFI. But as Jon Kay reports their demise is not just bad news for the companies themselves.
