 JetBlue will stop services to two US cities |
US low-cost carrier JetBlue has reported its first third-quarter profit in two years, as fuller flights offset higher costs for fuel and other items. The airline said net income for the three months to the end of September totalled $23m after a loss of $500,000 in the same period a year earlier.
JetBlue's results were nearly double Wall Street forecasts, sending its shares up 4.5%.
Revenue for the quarter increased to $765m, up from $628m a year earlier.
The airline's load factor, a measure of occupancy, grew by 1.6 percentage points and capacity jumped 10.9%.
JetBlue also said it planned to pull out from underperforming markets, halting services to in Nashville, Tennessee, and Columbus, Ohio from 6 January.
