Despite their small size, there has been big interest in Corgi toys

The Leicester-based company first sold its models in 1956 and said it was revamping its range for today's market.

In recent years it has focused on the adult market, selling to collectors and model enthusiasts as many younger consumers turned to electronic games.

Corgi said it now wanted to lure a younger generations of toy fans away from their games consoles.

While it may seem to be kids stuff, buying and selling Corgi toys can be big business for many collectors.

Corgi's best-known models, such as its copy of the James Bond Aston Martin and Monte Carlo Rally Mini Cooper, often sell for thousands of pounds.

"It's amazing how Corgi has impacted on people's lives during the last 50 years," said Corgi marketing controller Alex Balzaretti said.
