Union members will be asked to vote on the deal |
Unions representing workers at budget airline Easyjet have reached a three-year wage deal with management for cabin crew workers. The Transport and General Workers' Union and Amicus said the deal entailed wage increases of 4% this financial year, 3.25% in 2007 and 3% in 2008.
Cabin crew members would also get a bonus equal to two weeks' pay, depending on performance.
Around 2,200 employees will be asked to vote on the deal, the union said.
Better deal
More than 1,400 employees at Easyjet belong to the Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G) while Amicus represents about 200 members.
"We're pleased the company responded to the membership's rejection of the original offer, and through negotiation we have been able to reach an agreement that we recommend to our members for acceptance," said Brendan Gold, National Secretary for T&G.
Back in May, T&G said it would ballot 1,500 Eastjet cabin crew workers about whether to strike after Easyjet's original offer.
The airline had initially offered a wage increase of 3.5% for this financial year, with a 2% bonus.
For 2007, the firm had offered a 3% rise and a 2% bonus conditional on the firm reaching its target.
Wage discussions with Easyjet date back to October, T&G said.
