P Diddy's Sean John label could redesign McDonald's uniforms |
Fast food giant McDonald's is searching for a top fashion designer to give its US workers a trendy new makeover. The firm said rap star Sean 'P Diddy' Combs and designer Tommy Hilfiger were leading choices to design new uniforms for its 300,000 US restaurant staff. McDonald's said it wanted to create outfits to match the "contemporary look and feel" of its restaurants. Last month, McDonald's said it planned to give clown mascot Ronald MacDonald an leaner and more sporty look. The company said it had yet to choose a designer, but other candidates are thought to include Giorgio Armani and Russell Simmons' Phat Farm label. P Diddy markets his clothing through his Sean John fashion label. "The desire is to create uniforms that our crews would want to wear outside the restaurant environment," a McDonald's spokesman said. Currently, McDonald's uniforms vary among its US franchises.
