Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation has sold the company which publishes the Times Educational Supplement newspaper for �235m ($415m). News International, the UK division of News Corp, said it had sold TSL Education to Exponent Private Equity.
The deal marks the first sell-off of any of Mr Murdoch's UK newspaper titles since he first entered the British market 36 years ago.
News International also publishes The Sun and The Times in the UK.
The company said it would continue to print and distribute The Times Educational Supplement and the Times Higher Education Supplement.
TSL Education also publishes Nursery World and other titles and websites aimed at teachers and education professionals.
