Award winning chef and TV celebrity Gordon Ramsay has cooked up a wholesome profit for his restaurant business. Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH), which oversees Mr Ramsay's three London restaurants, made a pre-tax profit of �3.8m in the year to last August.
This represented a significant turnaround from the previous year when the business made a loss of �1.04m.
Mr Ramsay maintained a high profile in 2004, featuring in two controversial TV programmes.
Busy year
According to accounts registered with Companies House recently, the last financial year was a good one across all parts of Mr Ramsay's operations.
It produced sales of �30.5m, with Mr Ramsay's restaurant at Claridge's Hotel - a favourite haunt of business leaders and Hollywood aristocracy - making a profit of �1.4m alone.
GRH oversees Mr Ramsay's restaurants as well as his joint ventures with chefs Angela Hartnett and Marcus Wareing.
Two of the group's restaurants - Amaryllis in Glasgow and Fleur in London - closed during the course of the year.
Outside his own kitchen, Mr Ramsay was kept busy in 2004.
He starred in Hell's Kitchen, a reality TV show in which he trained celebrities as cooks and Kitchen Nightmares, in which he advised restaurants on how to improve their food and service.
Mr Ramsay left school at 15 to train as a footballer.
He later worked his way up the culinary ladder before opening his first restaurant in 1998, at the age of 32.
