Places like Easington Colliery need more entrepreneurial activity |
A new Queen's award for enterprise will be announced in two weeks time as part of a campaign led by Gordon Brown. The initiative is aimed at inspiring young people to get excited about their own entrepreneurial potential.
Gordon Brown made the announcement at the launch of the new campaign called 'Make Your Mark Start Talking Ideas'.
Mr Brown wants to see a change in the culture of Britain, an encouragement for a more dynamic enterprising spirit among the nation's young people.
Region's best
"The Queen and other members of the Royal family will visit the most outstanding examples of enterprise in each region," the Chancellor said.
Mr Brown took the opportunity to emphasise that recently enterprise has been seen as something for someone else, for a small elite.
The announcement was made as part of the start to the campaign which culminates in November with 'National Enterprise Week'.
