Majestic has over 110 wine-warehouses across the UK |
Strong sales of wines from the Loire, southern France, South Africa, Chile and New Zealand have fuelled profits at Majestic Wines. Champagne, rose and beer sales also helped the wine seller toast a 27% rise in pre-tax pre-exceptional profits to 10.6m in the last year.
Majestic said like-for-like sales rose 10% in the UK.
Chief executive Tim How said the firm was "in a good position to continue to grow strongly in an expanding market".
The average price of a bottle of wine bought at Majestic is now 5.40, up just 10 pence on a year ago, but 36% above the market average.
Analysts at Bell Lawrie White said: "Many consumers are willing to increase their spend per bottle and Majestic is well placed to compete for this business."
As well as running 115 wine warehouses in the UK, Majestic has three large stores in France.
