The chief executive of troubled airline Swiss International, Andre Dose, has resigned over a criminal investigation into a 2001 air crash. Crossair Flight LX3597 came down in snow-covered woods as it approached Zurich airport in November that year, killing 24 people.
At the time Mr Dose was head of the regional carrier - a subsidiary of now defunct Swissair.
An investigation into possible criminal negligence was opened in February.
Swiss International Air has been struggling since it was created out of Swissair two years ago.
On Wednesday, the airline said in a statement that Chairman Pieter Bouw would take over as interim chief executive.
The company is still seeking to secure a much-needed credit line.
Mr Dose said in a statement that the board had recommended he stand aside at least for the duration of the criminal investigation - but he decided it would be better to resign.
"Since Swiss is in the middle of a turnaround I could not stand down for an indefinite period of time," he said.
