Analysts had forecast the Santa Clara, California-based company to post a profit of 2 cents a share, according to Reuters Research.

Meanwhile Handspring, the maker of the Treo combination mobile phone and digital organiser on Tuesday reported narrower fiscal fourth-quarter loss, although revenues fell by two-thirds, Reuters reported.
