Neil Jenkins is worried about families who are in urgent need of the money |
More than four million families are now receiving the new tax credits, but others are having problems. BBC News Online readers are complaining in particular about problems with the tax credit helpline and payment delays.
Neil Jenkins from Bexhill-on-Sea is a BBC News Online reader, who is still waiting for his credit.
Neil Jenkins, a father of three young children, is still waiting for his tax credits - even though he says he applied before 31 January.
He expects to receive about 150 a month.
Mr Jenkins, a telecoms engineer, is also a part-time computer science student, and he believes problems arose when his application form was scanned in at the Revenue.
"I finally got through on Thursday morning, and it turns out the whole hold-up was due to the scanning of the document."
He says the computer had read his tax reference incorrectly - reading an eight as a three, and mis-reading his children's' names, he says.
Mr Jenkins is more incredulous than angry about the delays.
"It is just unbelievable. I find it quite amazing," he says.
"I have wasted a whole afternoon going to the tax office - I just can't believe it."
Mr Jenkins hopes to receive his payment in two to three weeks
A spokesman for the Revenue apologised for any trouble caused to Mr Jenkins.
"We are very sorry to hear about someone who has had that level of problems," he said.
