| Wednesday, 1 May, 2002, 10:35 GMT 11:35 UK Summer job heaven for gamers ![]() Have you got the stamina? The commitment of hardcore gamers will be put to the test this summer in a game-playing endurance test. Nintendo is recruiting an army of people to look animated while playing computer games all day long all summer.
Members of the Nintendo Team will hit the streets between July and August, demonstrating the GameCube and GameBoy at concerts, fairs and shopping centres in the US. "Finally a summer job that doesn't suck," boasts Nintendo on its somewhat subjective website, claiming it would be a better alternative to flipping burgers. 'Cool people' "Get paid to go to concerts, play games with cool people, get tons of swag and impress all your friend," the website enthuses. The recruitment drive adds that Nintendo will also look good on your curriculum vitae (resume), although employers may think differently after investigating the specifics of the job description. Nintendo is fighting a fierce price war with its rival console makers - Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's Playstation - in order to boost its market share. It has already dropped the price of its GameCube just weeks ahead of its launch in Europe on 3 May. Candidates must be over 18 years old and create a two minute video explaining why they deserve the job. Nintendo is looking for about 50 full-time gamers, with auditions to be held on 16 May. Strong thumbs are required. | See also: Top Business stories now: Links to more Business stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
