Your questions answered: ITV Digital
The collapse of ITV Digital has left many of its subscribers unsure about what to do now. BBC News Online answers some viewers' questions about the service.

The ITV Digital website suggests that any annual payments paid after 27 March are "secure", and would be paid back pro rata if the company ceases. Is this correct?

Yes it is.

The administration process should, ideally, reinvent ITV Digital as a going concern - or at least one attractive to potential buyers.

This process would be little helped if customers shunned the firm for risk of losing their subscriptions, and a major source of revenue for the broadcaster dried up.

Administration guidelines are thus set such that customers' money is protected.

If the firm were to collapse, cash would be paid back according to the proportion of a subscription plan used.

The news is not so good for viewers who renewed their subscriptions before the March administration date.

They would be treated as any other creditor of the firm, and - if the firm collapsed - would be likely to receive only a percentage of any "refund" owed.

When will ITV Digital contracts for consumers become non-binding? When can we transfer without penalty to another provider?

The terms of a contract remain unchanged by the administration process.

They are binding until the company ceased trading.

However, it is important to look at the terms and conditions carefully.

For example, the contract terms may allow for earlier termination by giving a notice period.

Alternatively, there may be a clause which allows subscribers to terminate if the company goes into administration.

I have an ITV active internet account through my ITV Digital package. Will this continue running?

Yes, as long the firm continues to run.

Payments made on ITV active accounts will be treated as other subscriptions, and refunded on a pro rata basis should the company fold.

Who will be showing the League play-off ties and final for this season?

ITV Sport, ITV Digital says.

ITV Sport, which is shown on both ITV Digital and NTL packages, is not in administration.

And while there has been considerable fuss over the 178.5m owed the Football League under a three year broadcasting rights contract, the first year of this deal - covering the current season - has actually been paid.

"In theory," ITV Digital says, even if it were to collapse, the matches would still be broadcast on ITV Sport through NTL.

What will happen to the monkey?

The monkey, which has led ITV Digital advertising campaigns, is an asset of the company like any other.

If ITV Digital emerges intact, the monkey stays.

If the broadcaster is sold, it would be up to the buyer to negotiate whether the beast would be included in the package.

If the firm were split up, the monkey would be sold to the highest bidder.

A similar question surrounded the fate of Miss Boo, the virtual host to the collapsed fashion e-tailer Boo.com.

US-based internet store bought the Boo.com address and the special Boo script design, and the rights to Miss Boo, who can be seen at Fashionmall.com.

I pay by direct debit monthly, should I stop paying now? I don't want the service anyway as I preferred cable but I have a 12 month contract. Does it still stand?

The Consumer's Association said that it was difficult to give a straightforward answer in this case.

People need to read the terms and conditions in their contract and see if they can terminate the agreement.

Look at the clauses, which refer to cancellation or termination of contract.

It is usually the case that if a company goes into administration there is a right to cancel, but it does not necessarily apply in this case.
