| Monday, 14 January, 2002, 08:27 GMT Compass to cater for oil giant ![]() Compass signs deal to supply food to oil workers ChevronTexaco, the second largest oil company in the US, has awarded a 10-year "preferred supplier" contract to the world's leading catering group, UK-based Compass.
"This historic agreement reinforces our confidence in the group's ability to meet our stated sales growth target of six percent to nine percent for the current year." Under the agreement, Compass will supply catering and facilities management for ChevronTexaco's facilities in 180 countries. Giant operation With 53,000 mouths to feed at the company's oil platforms, refineries and offices, Compass will be busy. The company said it plans to use local supplies to cater for ChevronTexaco's workers. ChevronTexaco said reducing the number of suppliers it uses will generate savings of $20m a year. In London, Compass shares were marked 5p higher at 493p in early trade on Monday. |
