More Than, part of insurer Royal & Sun Alliance, has launched the first lifetime no-claims bonus scheme for "safe" customers.

This means that those who qualify can get a no-claims bonus for life - no matter how many accidents they have or claims they make through the insurer.

The "Maximum No-claims Bonus for Life" scheme is the first to reach the UK from Australia, where the concept was introduced by insurer AAMI in October 1994.

Qualifying criteria

New customers will be considered for the scheme if they have four years' no claims bonus, as long as they have not made any claims for accidents which were their fault and made no more than two "not at fault" claims.

Existing customers on-the-other-hand, who have four years' no claims bonus, will automatically be offered the no claims bonus for life at their next renewal.

And these customers can have up to one "fault" and no limit on the number of "not at fault" claims.

"Under our new scheme, More Than customers are reassured that whatever happens while thy are insured with us, we will never reduce their no claims bonus."

Drivers who are interested in the scheme are still advised to compare quotes with other insurers.
