| Friday, 15 May, 1998, 11:30 GMT 12:30 UK Singapore girls fly the longest Singapore Airlines has announced plans for the world's longest non-stop commercial flight -- a seventeen-hour journey from Singapore to the American west coast cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles. To fly the route, Singapore Airlines has ordered five super-long range European Airbus A-Three-Forty planes costing more than a billion dollars. It's also taken out options to buy a further five.
