Explosions and gunfire were heard on the streets throughout the weekend, as the military attempted to bring an end to a months-long anti-government protest.
Several luxury hotels are in the middle of the conflict zone - as firing started again on Sunday night, guests at the Dusit Thani Hotel were evacuated to the basement. The hotel later closed completely.
The red-shirt protesters have offered talks with the authorities to end weeks of political turmoil - but only if the army withdraws from the streets and the United Nations mediates in the negotiations.
