Close-Up: Indonesia's Jamu ladies

In an ongoing series, BBC News focuses on aspects of life in countries and cities around the world. What may seem ordinary and familiar to the people who live there, can be surprising to those who do not.

For centuries, Indonesians have been using the ancient herbal remedy of jamu to treat common ailments like coughs and colds. Consisting of plants, fruits and spices, jamu can be in the form of powder, pills, capsules or liquids.

Although jamu can be bought in shops, in Indonesia it is common to see jamu ladies who walk the streets selling their wares from a basket on their backs.

The BBC's Karishma Vaswani went to meet one of them.
