Whole areas flattened by quake

There are fears that thousands of people in villages and other remote areas could have died after the earthquake which struck Indonesia last week.

Hope of finding any more survivors in the worst-hit city, Padang, is fading, but there are also reports of massive destruction in rural areas.

Access roads have been badly damaged, if not destroyed, preventing emergency teams from reaching the injured.
